Equipment
As separation science is the key research topic of our group, we are equipped mainly with chromatographic and electrophoretic instrumentation coupled to UV-Vis diode-array, fluorescence or mass spectrometry detectors. Other instrumental facilities are provided by the Department of Analytical Chemistry and common research centers within the University of Alcalá.
List of scientific instruments in Prof. Marina's group:
- 3 HPLC systems (1100 series, from Agilent Technologies) with UV-Vis diode-array or fluorescence detection. Additionally, one of them has a fraction collector and can be used as semipreparative system.
- 1 UHPLC system (1290 infinity II, from Agilent Technologies) with UV-Vis diode-array and refractometry detection.
- 1 micro-HPLC system (1100 series, from Agilent Technologies) with UV-Vis detection.
- 1 nano-HPLC system (in-house made) with UV-Vis detection.
- 5 capillary electrophoresis (CE) and capillary electrochromatography (CEC) systems (7100 series, from Agilent Technologies) with UV-Vis diode-array detection.
- 2 Mass Spectrometers: an ESI Quadrupole-Time-of-Flight (Q-TOF) mass spectrometer (6530 series, from Agilent Technologies) and an ESI Ion Trap (amaZon SL model, from Bruker Daltonics). Both mass spectrometers can be coupled to chromatographic and capillary electromigration systems.
- Fluorescence spectrometer.
- UV-Vis spectrophotometer.
- Pressurized liquid extraction system (PLE)
- Other scientific equipment: Isoelectrofocussing system (offgel), high intensity focussed ultrasound probes, gel electrophoresis system, microcentrifuge, centrifuge, ThermoMixer®, ultrasound system, SpeedVacT concentrator, analytical balance, etc.
Other facilities available at the Department of Analytical Chemistry are the following:
- Absorption and emission atomic spectrometer
- Voltammetric analysis instrument
- Gas chromatography
Additionally, chromatographic and capillary electromigration techniques coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS, HPLC-MS, and CE-MS) together with other facilities are available in the common research centers of the University of Alcalá (http://www.cqab.eu, https://portal.uah.es/portal/page/portal/cai_quimica y https://portal.uah.es/portal/page/portal/investigacion/unidades/cais/medicina_biologia)
