Elena Sánchez

Elena Sánchez López is a postdoctoral researcher in the Center for Proteomics and Metabolomics from the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), Leiden, The Netherlands. She has a BSc in Chemistry (2012), a MSc in Fine Chemistry (2013) and a PhD in Fine Chemistry (2017) where she obtained the maximum score (excellent cum laude), all of them conducted in the University of Alcalá. Her PhD dealt with chiral and metabolomic analysis of compounds of pharmacological and bioanalytical interest using micro-separative techniques coupled to mass spectrometry. During her predoctoral stage, she carried out two research stays in the LUMC, being involved in metabolomic-related projects. In 2018 she received a prestigious Marie Sklodowska Curie - COFUND postdoctoral grant to carry out her research in the LUMC. Currently, her research focus is based on studying cancer metabolism using NMR and MS-based metabolomics.

Elena Sánchez’s research has led to the publication of more than 20 research articles and 10 book chapters. She has also been actively involved in the dissemination of research results in a wide variety of national and international symposia having contributed with several oral presentations. As a consequence of this, Elena has been awarded different prizes such as the best oral presentation for young scientist award in the 27th International Symposium on Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis (PBA2016), held in Guangzhou, China. She has also received awards for her PhD including the Best PhD thesis in Analytical Chemistry award granted by the Spanish Society of Analytical Chemistry and the PhD Extraordinary Award by the University of Alcalá.
