María Concepción García López

María Concepción García (Ph.D. in Chemistry) is Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Alcalá (Madrid, Spain). Her research is centred in the extraction, characterization, determination, and identification of proteins and peptides in food and food byproducts using chromatographic techniques and mass spectrometry. She has applied this work to the development of methods for the detection of protein food adulterations, protein biomarkers for food and cultivar authentication and differentiation, and transgenic cultivars, and for the detection, extraction, and determination of functional proteins and peptides in foods and food byproducts. She is co-author in more than 90 articles in international peer reviewed journals. Additionally, she has been main researcher in different competitive projects and in contracts with important food companies.
